Business context

Ingenico was separating its retail activities from its bank and acquirer activities worldwide. For Canada, the USA and Mexico, new retail companies were created in SAP. All existing logistics flows and master data had to be replicated in the new entities, and a new intercompany flow was needed between the old and new companies for internal re-invoicing, integrated with finance and profitability analysis.

Key contributions

  • Assessed the existing system and produced the high-level and SD/MM solution design for the new retail entities.
  • Designed and implemented the company-to-company flow for internal re-invoicing between old and new entities.
  • Configured sales order, delivery, billing and intercompany billing, pricing procedures and output types.
  • Integrated the flows with FI/CO and CO-PA, and supported data migration, user training and support.

Solution design

A carve-out of this kind is a rollout into new legal entities while the old ones keep running. I worked through it in four layers:

  1. Assessment. I assessed the existing SAP system and ran user workshops to list every flow the new retail companies would need.
  2. Replication. The existing sales, purchasing and warehouse flows were replicated in the new entities, with their master data migrated.
  3. Intercompany. I designed a new company-to-company flow between the old and new companies so that activity performed on one side could be re-invoiced internally to the other.
  4. Finance integration. I integrated the sales and intercompany flows with FI/CO and CO-PA.
