Business context
After an acquisition, the organization needed a clear, shared picture of how the acquired business operates as a factual basis for integration planning.
Key contributions
- Mapped the current application landscape and its dependencies.
- Documented the end-to-end operational processes.
- Prepared alternative integration scenarios, from full integration to minimal change, for review.
Responsibilities in detail
Discovery
- Lead the integration architecture discovery
- Map the current application landscape and its dependencies
Process documentation
- Document the order-to-cash, purchasing, logistics and after-sales processes
Architecture options
- Document the current-state architecture
- Prepare alternative integration scenarios for review
The approach
I ran the discovery as an architecture assessment: first understand how the acquired business actually runs, end to end, then describe the possible integration paths. Each scenario was documented with its scope, dependencies and trade-offs so that the decision could be taken on a shared, factual basis.
What the work covers
- Current-state processes, from order-to-cash and purchasing to logistics and after-sales.
- The application landscape and its dependencies.
- Alternative integration scenarios, ranging from full integration to minimal change.
